CHARD Town Under-16s continued their unbeaten league run with a 7-0 win over Colyton.
The game, played under floodlights, failed to produce any dazzling football in a disappointing first-half with Chard struggling to string any passes together and Luke Finn netting the only goal.
A recharged Chard team picked up the pace during the downhill second half with Alex Hood scoring from a ball which rebounded off Colytons keeper and Ryan Masons accurate pass to Alex for his second goal.
A crunching tackle by Colytons heroic defenders resulted in a penalty slotted in by Luke and then Ryan hit the back of the net from a sweet pass by Chard’s forwards.
Owen Dodd scored an unstoppable 30-yard screamer into the top corner, which Alex followed up with a rebound shot, this time off the post, for his hat trick.
It was a busy debut game for Jake Board and as always a solid performance by defender Jamie Fletcher.
A spirited game by Colyton who probably deserved a goal or two. Chard will have to step up their game if they want to continue their unbeaten season!
Good luck to Chard Under-16s in Round Three of the County Cup on Sunday (Feb 6) against Imperial Saints.
