SKILL, determination, commitment and controversy are ingredients in a good cup tie and this county cup game had them all.
Perry Street started well with Elliott, Bond and the lively Patch putting good balls through to Richards and Potter.
Sheahan hammered home a 10 yarder to give the visitors the lead but despite O’Conner having nothing to do in their goal, Perry Street could not extend their lead.
Westfield attacked after the break, roared on by an intimidating home crowd and were now on top. Rawles, Richardson, Baker and Holley defended superbly as every decision seemed to go the home side’s way.
Just as it seemed Perry Street had weathered the storm, Westfield drew level. Perry Street responded and almost took the lead as Bawler, McCann and Sheahan went close.
With extra time looming Westfield were awarded a free kick – Perry Street protested – free kick given and the result was a stunning strike into the top corner to win the game.
Man of the match – Conor Richardson.
