Somerset Premier Division: Somerton Town 1-2 Chard Town
Chard Town’s latest victory in the Somerset County League Premier Division sees them join a gaggle of teams level on points for the last play off place.
The Robins travelled to struggling Somerton Town on Saturday (November 9) looking to put their defeat at Fry Club behind them.
Chard Town made three changes to the starting line-up from that fixture with Charlie Male, Callum Lacey and Finaly Downes all coming in for James Boyland, Jack Male and Ryan Mason.
The visitors started well and Will Board hit the post in the opening five minutes but the first half ended with no goals scored.
Ten minutes into the second half, Chard Town were a goal up as Conor Fielder opened the scoring.
However, Somerton Town scored an equaliser on 68 minutes. Parity lasted just two minutes however as Jordan Clapp put Chard back in front and that is how it stayed.
The Robins are now on 20 points from 14 games and are level on points with Chilcompton Sports in fifth, Wells City Reserves and Clevedon United.
Next up for Chard is a trip to Stockwood Wanderers on Saturday, November 16.
