Chard Town cruised through to the next round of the Somerset County League Premier and Division One cup after hitting five past Yatton & Cleeve.

The Robins went into the game on the back of a 1-1 draw at Bishop Sutton in the Somerset County Premier Division and Chard made one change from that match as Jake Davey came in for Will Board.

The Robins did not wait long to strike as a good cross from Tom Boyland found Jordan Clapp who converted with a looper header.

It was 2-0 after six minutes as Boyland squared the ball for Finlay Downes to score from two yards.

Downes added his second and Chard’s third on 21 minutes with a left-footed finish.

That’s how it stayed until 72 minutes when Jake Davey converted a header from a Tom Boyland free kick.

Yatton & Cleeve pulled a goal back three minutes later but Chard wrapped up the scoring with their fifth as Owen Ford intercepted a pass and applied a good finish from the edge of the area.
