Chard Cricket Club rounded off their 2024 season with a home victory against Minehead Cricket Club.
Chard were bowled out for 192 in their innings but Minehead failed to match their target being bowled out themselves for 115.
The result leaves them in seventh place, well clear of relegation and they will compete in the West of England Premier Cricket League next year,
Having won the toss and chosen to bat, Six balls were bowled when Harvey Evans was trapped lbw by Dan Bowditch for four runs.
Reid Mawdsley and Jonathon Legg put on 30 together before the former was caught off the bowling of Oliver Groves for 15 runs.
Chard then lost two wickets in quick succession to leave themselves on 77-4. Legg was out lbw for 43 and Cloete was run out on a duck.
Jonathan Scott and Jon Dalwood put on 70 runs for the fifth wicket before Dalwood was caught by Ellis Taylor off the bowling of Oliver Groves.
Chard then lost another two wickets for 14 runs leaving them on 161-7 with just over five overs remaining.
The last three wickets fell in the final over.
Jonathan Scott top scored with 54 and Legg pitched in with 43.
Chard made the perfect start with the ball as Minehead opener Darren Sherring was bowled by Malcolm Cloete for a golden duck.
Jonah Hopkins and Braden Taylor put on 23 runs together before Hopkins was trapped lbw by Legg for a quick-fire 12 runs.
Minehead then lost two wickets for 11 runs leaving them on 35-4.
Chris James was Legg’s next victim, trapped lbw for a single run. That brought Ellis Taylor to the crease and he was the only one to offer resistance to Chard, scoring 51 off 76 balls before he was the last man out, caught by Richard Scott off the bowling on Jon Dalwood.
Jon Dalwood took 4-20 and Legg took 3-12 for Chard in a convincing 77 run victory.
Chard finish the season with eight wins from their 18 matches this season.
