A Somerset tennis club has been named Britain's most sustainable club in the LTA Pledgeball League.
Ilminster Bowling & Tennis Club topped the LTA Pledgeball League, an initiative launched by the LTA in partnership with Pledgeball in June.
The league aims to engage tennis venues and players across the UK in sustainable practices.
Clubs that top the league each month are rewarded with £500 to further their sustainable efforts.
Additionally, winners can earn exclusive tickets to the prestigious Queens WTA 500 event.
Iain Lancaster, club support manager at the LTA, said: "It's fantastic to see that players at Ilminster have continued their commitment to environmental sustainability.
"The fact that this commitment forms part of a wider strategy at the club, encouraging positive climate action on a day-to-day basis, shows how passionate the club is about protecting the places we play and is an example for other clubs across the country to follow as we look to safeguard the sport for future generations."
The club's initiatives include creating a wildflower area, promoting cycling by installing bike racks, and planning to replace floodlights with energy-efficient LEDs using the grant.
Gill Dunn, from Ilminster Bowling & Tennis Club, said: "We take immense pride in winning a round of the LTA Pledgeball League for the second consecutive year, which reflects our club's dedication to sustainability.
"As a small club in Somerset, our facilities are vital to the local community, and the threat of issues like flooding could have a devastating impact.
"It's gratifying to see our members making daily changes that positively impact the environment."
Katie Cross, chief executive officer of Pledgeball, said: “We are thrilled to see Ilminster Bowling & Tennis Club setting an inspiring example in the LTA Pledgeball League.
“Their commitment to sustainability and active community involvement highlights the powerful role sports clubs can play in safeguarding the values we cherish.”
