Chard Cricket Club suffered a defeat in their final away trip of the 2024 season, despite a 50 from opener Reid Mawdsley.
Temple Cloud were the hosts but Chard won the toss and elected to bat first.
Mawdsley managed to score 58 before he was caught by Gary Filer off the bowling of Courtney Forest. His opening partner Harvey Evans scored 45 before being trapped lbw.
Chard’s batting was a story of batsmen getting starts but not going on to get a big score. Dominic Williams and Dan Parsons both got into the 30s before getting out.
Chard finished their innings on 205-7 from 30 overs.
In response, Temple Cloud had two players reach a half century, and that proved to be the difference. Chris Scott was the pick of the bowling for Chard with 3-36 but ultimately Temple Cloud reached their target from 29.3 overs
Chard’s final game of the season sees them entertain Minehead at home on Saturday (August 31).
