Chard Cricket Club have some silverware to celebrate after winning the Somerset Cricket Foundation Minor Knockout Cup
The seconds defeated Blagdon at Somerset County Cricket Club’s County Ground in Taunton by 25 runs.
This was the first victory by a Chard team at the County Ground since 1978 when Chard’s first team won the knockout cup.
Blagdon won the toss and elected to field and they took just four balls to take a Chard wicket with Jonathan Scott run out.
Chard added another 11 runs before Andrew Clancy was the next man out. Chard rallied and got to 52 when the third wicket fell with Liam Cleal caught and bowled.
Josh Short top scored with 48 off 52 balls and Yousiah Shazad was not out on 23.
Eventually Chard got to 129-7 from their 20 overs.
In reply, Chard managed to bowl Blagdon out for 104 with Jonathan Scott taking 3-20 and Benjamin Riley taking 2-15.
