Ilminster Town produced a solid display with two second half goals from Josh Phillips and Kieran Manley giving them a 2-0 win against previously unbeaten Clevedon United.

Both sides matched each other for the majority of the first half, Ilminster though created a few half chances that were not taken

Kieran Manley went closest when he hit the target with a header, with the cross slightly behind him he could not generate enough power to beat the keeper.

Before half time Paulo Borges was forced off when he felt his hamstring, he was replaced by Owen Burn who went to full back allowing Josh Phillips to move further forward.

Ilminster looked more fluid after the break with Phillips linking the play well, Taylor Jefferson went close with an effort that well saved by the keeper.

It was Phillips who made the breakthrough, when he used his pace to burst through and sent the keeper the wrong way with a calm finish for 1-0.

Clevedon pushed higher up the pitch after the goal, the Blues kept their shape well and caused problems on the counterattack looking for the second goal.

With the match now in the last ten minutes Kieran Manley was denied by the young keeper (who had an excellent match) as he made a great save with his feet.

Minutes later Manley showed great determination and used his strength to get in front on his man as he ran through, this time he won the duel with the keeper to make it 2-0 with a good finish to make the game safe and bring up the third win in a row for the Blues.

The Defence all were on the top of their game deserving their clean sheet, keeper Shay Allen handling was excellent, both Tom Case and Kane Lee at the heart of the defence were powerful and dominate, full backs Ollie Pearson and

Josh Phillips never put a foot wrong all afternoon, as did Owen Burn when Phillips was pushed forward.

It was an around solid team performance where the team were given a real test by Clevedon, star man was Harvey Saunders whose ball retention was excellent.
