Chard United kicked off the new season with a tough away tie against Perry Street in the Chard Hospital Cup.

A new-look fresh first team made up mostly of last seasons reserve side put in a ‘top’ performance against a very good Perry street team.

Perry Street won the match 1-0.

A spokesman for the club aid: “It wouldn’t be wrong to say they Chard outplayed them, but a hard one to take losing in the last couple of minutes.

“Definitely some positives to take, and really good to see the young reserves step up to first team level and straight away gel with current first team players , it was a performance that showed that this team isn’t going no where and that with time they will only get better, we are all looking forward to seeing what this side can do during the season.”
