Ilminster Cricket Club’s Twenty20 side trashed Yeovil on Sunday (July 21) to make it two wins in a row for the side.
Having won the toss, Ilminster elected to bat first up and they were fully rewarded for their decision.
The first wicket didn’t fall until Ilminster had amassed 102 runs with opener Adeesha Nanayakkara retiring not out on 50 runs.
That brought wicketkeeper Riley Millett to the crease but his partnership with opener Tom Sainsbury only lasted 15 runs when Sainsbury was out four shy of his 50. He was caught off the bowling of Horrocks.
117-1 soon became 117-2 when Millett was out for 7 runs having been bowled by Steven Redwood.
Michael Reynolds and Zach Harris put on 34 for the third wicket which fell when Reynolds was caught by Redwood off the bowling of James Laney. Reynolds scored 21.
Harris (11) and Lachlan Rice (17) saw home the innings with Ilminster finishing on 175-3 from 20 overs.
Yeovil’s innings saw none of their batsmen score double figures as they struggled to 36 from 15.4 overs.
First to go was wicketkeeper Calum Gundry who fell for 1 run off the bowling of Sam Ginter.
Jay Harding came in and lasted just four balls failing add to the score and leaving Yeovil on one run for two wickets after two overs.
Ben Carter was the next man out when he was caught off the bowling of William Rees, leaving the score at 13-3.
Seven runs later, the fourth wicket fell when Olly Bicknell was trapped lbw.
Yeovil added just two runs when Koby Van Nierkerk was removed lbw and the score was 25-6 when Horrocks was caught and bowled by Baker.
Just 11 runs were added for the last four wickets.
In the end, Baker took 4-11, Grinter took 2-8 and Harris took 2-4
The victory means after four matches, Ilminster are fourth in group A of the Mid-Wessex Cricket League T20 but now have the best net run rate in the group.
Saturday was a wash out for Ilminster, as their West of England Prem 2 Bristol/Somerset match against Midsomer Norton was canceled. Both sides were awarded 6 points each and Ilminster sit in 9th place. They face Taunton Deane - the side directly below them - on Friday (July 26) away from home.
