Chard RFC is holding a Ladies' Day to raise money for their Three Peaks Challenge, which is taking place in two months.

A family bingo and BBQ event takes place on Sunday July 28 from 12.30pm with prizes up for grabs, pop along for some bingo fun, a few pints and a fun family afternoon to kick start the summer holidays.

The clubs first Ladies Day event on Saturday August 10. £25 a ticket, includes a glass of fizz on arrival and a high tea buffet. As well as entertainment lined up for the afternoon, with a fully dressed belle tent chillout zone sponsored by Devon Belles.

Professional photography sponsored by Katherine Newman Photography. And some soulful tunes from the very talented Emily Jean Vocalist. With raffle prizes including vouchers for cream teas, spray tans, gel nails, beauty and Skincare.

Several successful fundraising events have been held throughout the year which has fundraised a total of £2,500 as well as obtaining over £2,000 business sponsorship from several local businesses including, Colin Mould, GW Machinery Services, Clive Adams Driving School, Tracey Berry Travel Services, Nine Springs Natural Health Centre, ODC Improvements, Cornerways Flowers, Millman Electrical Ltd, Unplugging History Metal Detecting and the support from two incredible charities, the Tatworth Women's Institute and The Inner Wheel group of Chard.

Cara Austin - Chard RFC Ladies said: "The business sponsorship has ensured we can travel to the mountains, providing financial support for the cost of mini bus hire and fuel and we would like to publicly say thank you to all of our sponsors for supporting our challenge.

"We have a further two fundraising events lined up and would love to see some local people supporting our fundraising efforts and adding to our total before we set off to hike the 3 highest national peaks in 24 hours."

There are 18 of the senior ladies team taking on the National three Peaks Challenge on September 12-16. Over the course of the weekend the challengers will walk 23 miles (37km) and the total ascent is 10,052ft. We aim to complete the challenge in 24 hours.

Cara added: "This has been a remarkable experience so far and we haven't even set foot on the mountains yet, we are humbled and grateful for the support of the community, helping us to raise a substantial sum of money to be donated back to our rugby club and the community hub in Chard."

Chard RFC Ladies train on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7pm at the school pitches in Chard. They are always looking for new members to join them.
