ON Saturday afternoon, Spaxton hosted South Petherton who’d had a mixed start to their season in Somerset League Division Three before this game.

After being put in Spaxton lost an early wicket and after five overs had reached 14 for one.

Runs continued to be hard to come by and the home side struggled to 24 for three after 12 overs.

Skipper Pople who made a patient 33 from 80 balls was joined by Richards who blasted his way to 30 off just 19 balls with six boundaries and the 100 came up in the 30th over.

The remaining 10 overs saw Spaxton reach 120 for eight off their overs.

South Petherton’s openers showed their intent from the start and reached 43 off the first five overs.

The onslaught continued as the 100 came up in the 14th with Masters making an unbeaten 47, Richards 17 from 20 balls and J Harris 28 not out as the visitors overhauled the home side in the 17th over to win by eight wickets.
