Heathcoat CC 131/5 (16.1) defeated Chard CC 128/4 (20)
AT the weekend Chard Cricket Club played a pre-season friendly away from home against Heathcoat CC.
The match was a T20 as Chard wanted to get practise in for batting and bowling ahead of the season starting.
Heathcoat won the toss and elected to field first sending in Chard openers Reid Mawdsley and Jonathon Legg.
The pair scored 38 before Legg was dismissed for 12, and Mawdsley followed soon after for 28.
Nathan Johnson finished 42 not out to score with Brian Thompson on 17, Dan Parsons on 16 and Jon Dalwood with 5.
In reply, Heathcoat chased down the target of 128 in the 17th over thanks to a half century from opener Tom Hatton.
Jon Dalwood and Jonathon Legg took two wickets a piece in the match. Legg finishing with 2 for 29 and the best bowling figures.
Chard get their WEPL Somerset 2024 campaign underway on Saturday, May 4 when they host Taunton Cricket Club.
It will of course be another tough season in the WEPL Somerset, as it is every year, all the sides are competitive at this level.
