CHARD Hockey Club's Men's first team took a trip to face bottom of the league Minehead, knowing they would have to work hard to get the win due to MIA players.
The team gave Fran C the call up and Tom S his debut and the game started slowly with the Chard press working well.
Chard eventually broke into number and Barnaby took the ball into the D to have a flick shot to be helped on course by an Alec flick into the back on the Minehead goal to make 1-0 within the first 20 mins.
Minehead felt as if they could get back into the game using the width of the pitch in which they did with a scrappy goal eventually crossing the line.
Chard found it hard to get back into the attacking groove with little movement at the top end of the pitch and only a couple chances in the closing 15 minutes of the half.
Eventually breaks started to occur more frequently a highlight being one with Tom S breaking on a 2-on-1 to win a short corner that Chard scored as a result of Max Beal tapping it past the keeper to make the scoreline 2-1.
Following the goal the defensive unit added some granite defensive picks was also a key factor in chard to seal the deal with the final goal from Bertie L sadly ruined by the celebration, this inevitably meant Chard were 3-1 up.
