YOUNG rugby players took to the pitch to represent Somerset RFU at the weekend in Hartpury.
The group of U18 lads came from a variety of clubs across the Somerset area and all did themselves, their clubs and the county proud.
They took on a strong Cornwall side in the match played at Hartpury and unfortunately were beaten.
But in the match they showed their skills and strength to match it with one of the better county sides.
One of the Somerset selectors who was present at the match said afterwards: “Although they were playing against a stronger faster Cornwall side, there was some good stuff from Somerset when they had ball in hand and away from the breakdown.”
It highlights the strength in the youth set up within rugby clubs across Somerset and bodes well for the future as the U18's will continue to improve throughout their rugby careers.
