CHARD Hockey Club's Men's first team earned their first win of the season at the weekend.
Playing at home, the Men's Firsts defeated Westbury 3-2 in what was a closely fought battle between two strong sides.
In the end, Chard did just enough to secure the win and snapped a losing run that spanned the opening of the campaign.
Elsewhere, Chard Seconds hosted an experienced West Dorset side today and despite a strong comeback late in the second half unfortunately West Dorset had already done enough to take all 3 points.
And Chard Thirds suffered their first league defeat of the season as they were unable to fight back from a two goal first half deficit away against Yeovil & Sherborne.
In Ladies hockey action, Chard Firsts lost a tight battle with ISCA 7s 2-1. The match could have gone either way in truth, but the ISCA side did enough to win.
And finally, Chard Ladies Seconds lost 2-0 against Sidmouth and Ottery 4’s.
It was a difficult battle for Chard, but one player who impressed was Rachael Lewis for excellent play in defence on her out field debut.
