THE senior section of Cricket St Thomas golf club held their October Medal tournament on Monday where 36 members were in attendance.
Vice Captain Andy Rowland won Division 1 with a net 64. Close behind with a net 65 was runner up, Dennis Hussey.
Jim Laughlan took the honours in Division 2 with a 3 under par net 65. John Baker was runner up with net 66.
The Division 3 winner was Bob Rees with a net 69, with Chris Hiam and Ian Frost in second place having posted a net 70.
On Wednesday, the seniors held a 3 man Bowmaker event attended by 36 members.
The winning score of 68 points was registered by Nick Gabb; Dave Mugridge & Roger Davis. Danny Dowell, Terry Rutherford & Tony Andrews were runners up with 65 points.
The Saints senior match team entertained the Sidmouth Seniors on Thursday.
A tight match was on the cards after the first two games were halved, but when John Wandless & Dennis Hussey had a narrow win by 1 hole in game 3, the floodgates opened and the final 3 games went in favour of the home side resulting in a win for the Saints by 5 - 1.
The Seniors completed their week on Friday with the first leg of the Cyder Cup. This competition over three days is the challenge of the Captain to the Vice captain.
The two teams held the Greensomes with seven games being played. The Captain's team won the first game by 1 hole and this was followed by a win at game 2.
Game 3 finished all square and the Vice captain registered his first win at game 4.
The Captain's team stuck back in game 5. Two tight finishes in the final two games were halved resulting in the Captain's team taking a 4 1/2 - 2 1/2 lead after day 1.
In other news at the club, a member of staff celebrated four years of service this week.
Cricket St Thomas GC Pro Shop supervisor Matt joined four years ago.
A spokesperson from the club said: "Four years at the Pro Shop for supervisor Matt! He's a favourite with just about everyone, and we think he's awesome too!
"Thanks for all you do Matt and happy 4 years!"
