THE Seniors of Cricket St Thomas Golf Club started their week on Monday with a "2 from 4" stableford competition.
The team comprising of Bill Hilson, John Pearce, Ken Trott Terry Rutherford posted a score of 86 points to win the event.
Three teams tied on 81 points with the side led by Martyn Bargery claiming runners up with a better back 9.
The seniors held their main event of the week on Wednesday with a Charity Golf competition open to all comers.
This event took the format of a four ball Texas scramble with a shot gun start. In overcast weather with storm Agnes threatening, the 72 golfers teed of in the gloom. Fortunately, the weather held fine for the duration of the competition and the teams enjoyed the conditions,
Each hole was sponsored by various local concerns with major prizes for a hole in 1. Dave Mugridge came closest with a shot on the third hole finishing 16 inches from the pin.
The team from Long Sutton won the event with a combined nett score of 49. The winning Cricket St Thomas team of Bob Barrow, Roger Stone, Ian Hildred and Doug Oliver posted a commendable nett 51 and took second place overall.
There followed a lunch for 90 people where captain John Wandless thanked all participants, the organisers, staff and local businesses for their support of the event which raised an impressive £3,200 for the Dorset Air Ambulance charity.
