A BUSY week for the seniors of Cricket St Thomas golf club started on Monday when 21 players took part in an individual stableford competition.
A close finish in Division 1 saw Rutherford and Lauchlan tied on 31 points with Coleman one point behind. In Division 2,Phil Hunt took the honours with 35 points, one better than his nearest rival, Ian Frost.
On Tuesday, a bright sunny day greeted the seniors from Wheathill in a friendly match against the Saints seniors. Roger Williams led the Saints to a 5-1 victory.
The EGGS section travelled to Honiton in their away day. Mike Banfield won the day with 37 points over Alan Chance and Alan Davis.
The seniors Bowmaker competition was held on Wednesday with 24 golfers taking part. The trio of Wandless Dowell and Williams dominated the course and won with a score of 90 points, a clear 18 points better than their nearest rivals,
On Thursday, the Seniors match team travelled to Cannington in the Avalon league, and with a fine all round display managed to defeat the opposition by 4 1/2 - 1/2. This great win took them to the top of the league.
The final event of the week was the Nobby Hodder Memorial trophy when 30 members of the senior section entered a three man Texas scramble. In a closely contested game, only one shot separated the first three sides.
Hildred, Shelley and Young recorded a score of net 57, the same as second placed Davis, Holmes and Mugridge but with a superior back 9. Hackling, Marsh and Withers were third with a net 58.
