Chard Ladies Seconds 1-0 Sidmouth and Ottery Thirds
CHARD Hockey Club returned to action for the first time of the year at the weekend in wet conditions.
For the Ladies Seconds team, they started the year with a win and a clean sheet against Sidmouth and Ottery Thirds.
The match began stagnated due to the cold but it warmed up fast and the Chard players got stuck into the game.
They were were running into space, making good passes and travelling well with the ball.
With great communication and pressing, the Chard Ladies managed to keep the ball in the opposition half.
All this pressure resulted in a moment of teamwork that got the ball into the right position where Marcie Russell took a shot and scored an amazing reverse stick goal.
Refreshed after half time the Ladies went back into the game and defended solid, holding off the opposition and allowing them to reset our play.
The whistle blew making the final score 1-0 to Chard.
Players player of the match was awarded to Marcie Russell for great play the entire game.
She was everywhere on the pitch allowing Chard to push up into an attacking position.
