A FORMER Somerset school student sparked an extraordinary comeback from Great Britain's men as they reached the Olympic rugby sevens semi-finals on Tuesday.
Team GB looked down and out after losing captain Tom Mitchell to injury in the first minute of their quarter-final against the USA and then falling 21 points behind.
But they summoned remarkable recovery powers to stun their opponents 26-21, scoring four unanswered tries at Tokyo Stadium, and they now face New Zealand in the semi-finals on Wednesday.
The first of those GB tries came from Ollie Lindsay-Hague, who studied at Millfield School, Street, before going on to help secure a silver medal at Rio 2016.
Lindsay-Hague came on as replacement for injured skipper Mitchell, but it looked like their medal hopes were over as the USA blitzed into a 21-0 lead.
But Lindsay-Hague's try gave them hope, and with their opponents having a player sent to the sin bin, GB's seven men took advantage against the six Americans.
Further tries from Ben Harris, Alex Davis and Dan Norton, plus three conversions from Dan Bibby, secured the win and set up the New Zealand semi-final.
That match is scheduled to take place at 3am UK time tomorrow.
