MEMBERS of South Petherton Bowls Club marked the retirement of Rex Corbet from the role of president at its recent presentation evening, held at Ilminster Bowls Club.
Corbet joined South Petherton Bowls Club in 1964, and has been bowling there for 54 years.
He has been an important figure at SPBC all this time, being captain for 10 years and competition secretary for more that 20 years.
He started the well-respected Will Masters competion in 1993, which continues to be fully attended every year.
Corbet was also groundsman for 30 years and still advises the current team.
He has also been a member of Ilminster Bowling Club since 1969, being particularly active in the indoor arena.
At the presentation evening in Ilminster, Corbet was presented with glassware, plants, and other momentos to mark his retirement from the role of president, which he held for more than 21 years.
