GOOD things come to those who wait!
After playing well for four league games without winning, Chard won both their Wessex Triples League matches last week.
The triples of Janet Bodily, Peter Avery and Ian Jackson (20-11), and Alan White, Jacquie Jackson, Mike Nichols (21-13) were successful when Mere came to Chard, enabling the hosts to win 73-70.
Chard then visited Ilminster and won three of the four triples:
Roy Bashford, Keith Johnson and Janet Bodily (17-16), Wallace Kerr, Jacquie Weeks and Mike Nichols (20-13), and Alan White, Lynn Beale and Maurice Wakeling (18-13).
Chard won 68-60, with perhaps the defining moment of the match being the final wood of her game bowled by Janet Bodily, scoring four shots to take the game 17-16.
There was further success for Chard last Wednesday; Severalls Jubilee Bowling Club were excellent hosts, in their invitation tournament sponsored by A.J. Wakely and Sons.
The Chard triple of Alan White, Lynn Beale and Peter Avery won three and drew two of their games to win the tournament.
