ON June 11, a team from the ladies section of Windwhistle Golf Club travelled to Vivary Park Golf Club in Taunton to play a four-ball better-ball friendly match. While only Wendy Morris and Janet Cunningham from Windwhistle won their match, it was a close fixture overall, only one pairing losing on the 18th hole, which meant the final result was a win for the hosts by three games to one.

-o- A FRIENDLY mixed greensomes match was hosted at Windwhistle on June 17 against Wells.. Fortunately the weather held off until everyone had finished their games, and victory went to Windwhistle by 6 games to 1.

-o- ON June 18, seven ladies travelled to Chedington Golf Club to play the second leg of the tri-match. The scores at the end of the round were Long Sutton 157 points, Chedington 151 and Windwhistle 146, with a running total of Long Sutton 331, Windwhistle 328 and Chedington 322. All now depends on the results when Windwhistle visit Long Sutton in July.

-o- ON June 21, the second round of the Darwynn was due to be played, the first being the week before. Due to inclement weather it was decided to cancel the second round, and the results were as follows: Division one winner - June Hutchings (net 68, handicap reduced to 14), runner-up Sam Barry (net 72). Division two winner - Shirley Medcraff (net 73), runner-up Jan Warner-Booth (net 75).

-o- ON June 24, a team of ten travelled to Bridport Golf Club to play a mixed friendly greensomes match. The match was played in good conditions with some spectacular golf, but there was only one win for Windwhistle which went to Brian and Siri Anderson. The final result was a win to Bridport, four games to one.

-o- JUNE 26 saw the Windwhistle ladies host a friendly four-ball better-ball match against Oake Manor. The visitors proved to be tough opponents and won the match three games to one, Bobby Barnett and Jan Bannister being the only winners.

-o- ON Ladies Day, June 28, the first round of the Stevenson Cup took place, again in dry conditions. This is a Stableford competition for the over 60s, played on two separate days. For those under 60, a Stableford was played off full handicap. Winner of Division One was Becky Dowell with 38 points playing off a scratch handicap. Division Two winner was Janet Wilkes with 28 points.
