CONSTRUCTION work has recommenced on a £10million care project where the original developer went into administration earlier this year.
The development in Wincanton ground to a halt in February after Midas Construction Ltd went bust.
The crash caused five months of delays at the Cornerstone Healthcare Group's 74-bed, specialist care service and the project had to go out to the market for re-tender.
Work at Cale View started again in August and is set to be completed in the autumn of 2023.
Once complete it will provide care for adults of all ages with challenging behaviours associated with complex neurological conditions and a mental health diagnosis. It will create 140 new jobs in Wincanton.
The Gloucester-based Markey Group successfully tendered for the completion of the project.
Ian Holmes, from Northstar Projects and Cornerstone’s project manager, said: "The pause of the development was obviously extremely frustrating for us and our client.
"However, it is great to have the Markey Group on board.
"This family-owned and run company has a proud 50-year record developing care homes and student accommodation.”
Cornerstone’s group chief executive Johann van Zyl said: "Recent studies by Dementia UK identified that 71,000 people in England has a diagnosis of early onset dementia.
"It is of the utmost importance that Cale View opens as soon as possible to provide this much-needed service in the South West region.
"This area is hugely under served of the specialist, complex care we provide.
"We have already had contact with representatives from the NHS Care Commissioning Group and we looking forward to working with them.”
Markey Group’s Paul Markey said: “We are pleased to be working with the team at Cornerstone as we share their passion for providing high quality care to those who need it most in the latest state of the art facilities."
The demise of Midas Construction Ltd resulted in a number of projects being unfinished by the company.
Among them is a multi-million pound riverside development of homes, shops, offices and bars and restaurants at the Coal Orchard site just off Taunton town centre.
