POLICE have issued a warning following several reports of lasers being shone at aircraft in the South Somerset and Bristol areas.
As well as being highly dangerous, it is also a criminal offence attracting a potentially huge fine and a prison sentence.
South Somerset Neighbourhood Policing team (NPT) has posted on social media: "The Wincanton NPT are experiencing an increasing number of calls during the night regarding lasers being directed at aircrafts, in the areas of Bristol and Yeovil.
"We would like to remind our community that not only is it dangerous to shine a laser at an aircraft it is also a criminal offence which carries a penalty of an unlimited fine or prison sentence for up to 5 years.
"Please report any suspicious activity to 101."
