SOMERSET voters will find out tomorrow (May 6) who will be governing them at a local level for the next five years.

Voters are heading to the polls today (May 5) to elect 110 councillors to the new unitary Somerset Council – with the results being confirmed by the following afternoon.

A total of 477 polling stations, manned by nearly 2,000 volunteers, will be open to allow people to cast their vote – including a 7th-century abbey on the Somerset Levels, a tithe barn in Exmoor and a skittle alley in Taunton.

Every polling station in Somerset will be open between 7am and 10pm – but make sure you don’t leave it until the last minute to cast your vote and make a difference.

Your local polling station will be listed on your polling card, which you should have had in the post days ago.

If you’ve mislaid your polling card, don’t panic – you don’t have to have it with you in order to be able to vote.
