A GRAND total of £4730 was raised at a recent Macmillan Cancer Support coffee morning held at Cottage Flowers at Horton Cross.
The team was led by Julie Fowler, who first organised Ilminster being part of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in 2018, and tremendous support was provided by Angie Blackwell of Cottage Flowers together with Shirley Farley, President of Ilminster Lions Club and Neil and Annie Roden.
Atalia O’Leary, relationship fundraising manager with Macmillan Cancer Support, was on hand for the presentation of the cheque.
Atalia said: “We are so grateful to the team for their support and appreciate the time and effort they all put in to making their World Biggest Coffee Morning such a huge success.
“The money raised helps us with our vital work to support people affected by cancer. We’re here to help everyone with cancer to live life as fully as they can but we can’t do it without the amazing people who fundraise for us. I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who made the event such a success.”
The overall total was again boosted by the efforts of Angie Blackwell who provided a cake delivery service to local businesses and the raffle benefitted from the sale of tickets outside Tesco.
Julie Fowler, a local spokesperson said:” The total raised is overwhelming. We had great support from local shops and businesses as well as voluntary organisations plus the wonderful community of Ilminster. But it was down to great teamwork that we achieved such an amazing result, and I would like to express my thanks to Angie, Annie and Neil, and Shirley for their wonderful contribution.”
