AFTER 40 years of service to the Seavington St Michael, Ilminster community, Cllr Pauline Parsons is officially stepping down and the community gathered to celebrate her numerous contributions.
On Saturday, November 9, Adam Dance, MP for Yeovil, presented a bouquet of flowers and a gift to Cllr Pauline Parsons in recognition of her long-standing dedication and service to the Seavington community.
A large gathering of councillors, residents, and friends turned out to honour Pauline’s contributions, which have helped shape and support the Seavington St Michael community for over forty years.
Pauline’s involvement with the Seavington community began in the early 1980s when she joined the Seavington Playing Field Association, where her commitment to local facilities and community spaces quickly became apparent.
In 1995, Pauline was elected to the Parish Council and later took on the additional role of Clerk.
Reflecting on her years of service, Pauline said: “I have enjoyed all my work for the Seavingtons since the early 1980s through to now. It has been my pleasure to contribute to the growth and spirit of our village, and I am grateful for the support I’ve received from so many wonderful people over the years.”
Longtime colleague Chris Reyland, a Parish Council member for twelve years, praised Pauline’s dedication.
“Over the years, Pauline has worked very hard for the village, taking on responsibilities with a tireless commitment that has truly benefited the community. She has left a legacy of service and will be missed by us all,” he said.
Adam Dance MP, who first met Pauline when he served on the District Council, expressed his admiration for her dedication and local knowledge.
“Pauline has been a fixture in the Seavingtons; she knows everything about the community, from its history to its needs. There isn’t a thing she doesn’t know, and her advice and commitment have been invaluable. She’s set a high standard for community service that will inspire us all moving forward,” Adam said.
Pauline’s departure marks the end of an era for the Parish Council, but her impact will endure in the projects, improvements, and spirit she helped foster. The Seavington community is grateful for her service and wishes her all the best in the future.
