A CRASH occurred in Ilminster last night (November 4), as a learner motorcyclist, going at 40mph, skidded on a muddy Sea road at a sharp bend and completely lost control of the bike, leading to it sliding and "throwing him across the road".

The motorcyclist experienced back injuries resultant of the impact.

An eyewitness at the scene said: “When I got out the car the mud was very slippery on foot let alone for a bike. I nearly fell over trying to help him.”

Another eyewitness said: “It looked like I got there just after the crash. It was an absolutely terrifying moment.”

The crash took place at around 10.05pm and the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) was called at 10.08pm to check the man’s injuries.

A spokesperson for the SWASFT said: “We were called at 10.08pm on Monday, November 4 to an incident in Ilminster. We sent one double-crewed land ambulance to the scene.”

Many people living in surrounding areas are saying they have experienced similar issues with all the mud on the roads, that it is “very dangerous” and a major skidding risk for all motorists.
