Ilminster Entertainments Society's next play at the theatre in a month's time is the well known 'Abigail’s Party' by Mike Leigh.
Performances are on: Wednesday 9th October at 7:30pm, Thursday 10th October at 7:30pm, Friday 11th October at 7:30pm and Saturday 12th October at 7:30pm at The Warehouse, Brewery Lane, Ilminster.
The synopsis for the show said: "You’re all invited to Beverly and Laurence’s party! It’s 1977 with Donna Summer on the turntable, olives in a bowl and cheese and pineapple on sticks.
"Angela and Tony, the new neighbours will be there, and you’ll meet Susan from next door, who is taking refuge from the party her own daughter, Abigail, is throwing. There will be lots of alcohol flowing, awkward dancing moments and even a bit of flirting. But just like any party, tensions will start to run high with heated conversations over marriage, music and personal aspirations until at the end of the night…well…at the end of the night, something very unexpected happens.
"To be honest, you probably wouldn’t want to go to this party, but it is great entertainment watching everyone’s antics in this classic comedy. So come along in true 1970s party spirit and enjoy being a fly on the wall at this party from hell."
Tickets are £12 for adults (£6 for students) and are available on our website, or in person from Ilminster Home Hardware (cash only). Visit https://www.seaty.co.uk/abigail24 for more information.
The show takes place at Warehouse Theatre on Brewery Lane which was converted from a fruit warehouse in the 1980’s with professional standard lighting and sound equipment and a fully raked auditorium that seats 150. There is also a coffee counter and a comfortable bar.
Ilminster Entertainment Society formed in 1947 with its inaugural production of ‘The Farmer’s Wife’. The society presents five productions in the theatre every year including its very popular Christmas show. It comprises over 100 members.
