ILMINSTER'S Party in the Park returns to Ilminster Recreation Ground on August Bank Holiday weekend.

Taking place from 10am to 8am on Sunday August 25, the event started back in 2012 for the Queen's Jubilee and helps community groups and charities raise much-needed funds in this free entry family community event. Organisers say 'this year's looks to be as good as ever.'

Organised by just two volunteers, this year's party includes

  • Classic Car show from 10am,
  • Fun Family Dog Show from 1pm,
  • Live entertainment from Midday - This includes over 12 live acts, from solo singers & Dance troupes to 5 piece Rock Bands, Charity Stalls
  • Food stalls, Including Hog Roast, BBQ & Cream Teas
  • Bars
  • Bouncy Castles
  • Raffles/Tombolas

We estimate that over the last 10 years, the event has raised over £100,000 for groups and charities both local and national. It brings people together, not only for a great time but for a great reason as well!

Matt Sainsbury, one of the organisers said 'Once again time has passed so quickly and we are in the final stages of organisation. There is still a chance to get involved. Please email: ilminsterpop@gmail.com if you can offer support or wish to run a fundraising charity stall.

"We have a great lineup of entertainment again this year, with something for everyone, the addition of the Dog Show run by the Ilminster Lions, should bring something extra to the day. the only thing we can't organise is the weather....this Summer has so far been unpredictable, so fingers crossed!'

"We also look to ensure the charities have as much chance to raise money as possible. We try to be responsible as possible and encourage guests to use the recycling points provided or take their litter home."
