A POPULAR folk singer wowed adoring crowds at a recent sell-out show near Ilminster.
Northern Irish singer Cara Dillon performed at The David Hall in South Petherton on Saturday, June 1.
The artist, who has tens-of-thousands of monthly listeners on Spotify, sold out the 160-seat venue and delighted all in attendance.
Her song 'The Parting Glass' has received almost 7 million streams on Spotify, and her latest album 'Coming Home' has been met with positivity from fans.
On her website, a spokesperson for Cara Dillon said: "Whether she's singing her native traditional songs of lost love and emigration, or original compositions, you will be hard pressed to find a more emotive and captivating performer.
"Cara Dillon is at the very top of her field and one has the feeling she'll remain there for a very long time."
The David Hall in South Petherton receives no external revenue funding, and costs around £38,000 a year to run.
Run by the Petherton Arts Trust, a non-profit making organisation, the historic venue now provides 'essential' entertainment to those in the south Somerset area.
A spokesperson added: "We also think that it would be a desperate shame if such a historic building were to be either converted into flats, commercial usage or left to rot."
