THE 10th and last edition of Shindig Festival taking place last week was a “truly fitting celebration”.

The last ever edition of the festival took place between May 23 to May 26 after earlier this year, Dillington Estate said they were looking to use the land for farming “and this is not entirely compatible with the festival”.

Mojo Fell, the festival creative director, however, said that after an “overwhelming response” they “feel this is not the last hurrah”.

The full message said: "A truly fitting celebration for our tenth and final festival. The music was incredible and packed with pioneers, legends, and luminaries.

“The art installations were from the most visionary and trailblazing creatives of today. The vibe was big.

“Following the overwhelming response from the Shindig family, we strongly feel this is not the last hurrah - watch this space…”

This year’s line-up included, among many others, old-school royalty and festival residents with many rising stars to ensure it’s a soundtrack like no other.

Groove Armada (DJ set), Brand New Heavies, Mad Professor featuring General Levy and Sandra Cross, are on the bill.

The line-up also featured New York house DJ John Morales, who remixed all the greats from The Rolling Stones, Spandau Ballet, Aretha Franklin to Hall & Oates, Candi Staton, and Rod Stewart on Saturday.

The event has been recommended by Emily Eavis, Glastonbury organiser, as a good alternative to those who didn’t manage to get Glasto tickets.
