THE roof of a 90-year-old building affected by asbestos has been successfully replaced.
The Ashill Hall committee hosted a cream tea at the hall to celebrate the removal of the old asbestos roof and the successful installation of the new one.
The committee thanked all the contractors, and especially the main contractor, J. Layzell & Sons, for their exceptional hard work and long hours spent completing the work on time and budget during the most appalling weather in January.
The work was only possible following receipt of grants from several organisations including the National Lottery; Defra; Somerset Community Foundation, Wessex Water, Garfield Weston Foundation; Bernard Sunley Foundation; Somerset Council, and the Ashill Parish Council, and not forgetting all the residents who donated generously to the project.
