A ROAD in Ilminster has been closed after a bus hit scaffolding erected around a house in Ilminster.
Yesterday evening (Monday, April 15) police were on the scene of the incident just before 5pm on Ditton Street near the junction with Shudrick Lane.
The road was closed, motorists were warned of heavy traffic and told to avoid the area.
The spokesperson also said: “We're at the scene of a collision in Ditton Street, Ilminster, near the junction with Shudrick Lane which has blocked the road leading to heavy traffic.
“The road is likely to be blocked for some time and we would urge motorists to avoid the area.”
The road was re-opened at 6.50pm and the police spokesperson said: "We were called a 4.55pm to a report that a bus had collided with scaffolding erected around a house in Ditton Street, Ilminster.
"Officers attended and closed the road to allow a scaffolder and the power company to make sure the scaffolding and a power cable were safe before removing the bus.
"The road reopened shortly after 6.50pm."
