POLICE are warning people in the South Petherton area to steer clear of a dog on the loose.
A spokesperson for South Somerset Neighbourhood Policing team said the "Rottweiler/Mastiff cross style dog" has been "involved" with a member of the public.
The incident took place in the Mere Lynches area.
As well as avoiding approaching the animal, anyone who comes across it is advised to call police.
The spokesperson said: "Officers from South Petherton Neighbourhood Team are warning residents in South Petherton, mainly the Mere Lynches area, of reports regarding a Rottweiler/Mastiff Cross style dog that has been involved with a member of public.
"If anyone has any sighting of a similar dog in the Mere Lynches area, please stay clear, keep safe and call 101 and quote 5224005509."
