A MEETING will be held later this month to re-establish the Friends of Ilminster Library group.
It will take place on Saturday, January 20 at Ilminster Library at 10.30am to elect members and discuss how to support library services.
The aim of the group is to support fundraising initiatives, recruitment of volunteers, and deliver additional programmes of events.
Marjorie Edwards, Cate Horne, and Julian Mead have volunteered for the post of chairperson, secretary, and treasurer.
The message from the group read: “We need help supporting the vital community services offered by Somerset Libraries Ilminster.
“We are a small and welcoming group of local people who want to re-establish the Friends of Ilminster Library.
“The aim of the Friends is to raise money and awareness, to help the library keep providing resources and activities for all the community - from parent/toddler groups, to craft sessions, to the Scrabble Club - and more.
“We already have a small team committed to leading the group, but we need more members and supporters to get our group off the ground.
“This is a low-commitment opportunity to get involved in the community, meet new friends, and help safeguard the library for the future.
“If this sounds up your street, please come along to the library on Saturday 20th January, at 10.30am, where we will be holding an AGM to formally establish our Friends Group.
“From there, the fun and fundraising will begin.
“More details are below. If you would like to find out any more about the group and its aims, pop into the library, or email us at ilminsterlibraryfriends@gmail.com.
“We hope to see you soon.”
