STATUES, pictures, and other items will go on sale during an auction that will take place at Dillington House in Ilminster later this month.
Dillington House closed on September 30, and GTH, which is organising the auction, said the sale will include the fixtures, fittings, sculptures, and effects.
A spokesperson said: “We will be auctioning the contents to include, furniture, glass, kitchen equipment, pictures, stacking chairs, and much more.
“On the grounds, we will auction statues, garden tables, chairs, shipping containers, etc.
“The viewing for the sale will be on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 of October, 10am to 3pm. And the morning of the auction on Monday the 30th from 9am.”
A message about the closure published on The Dillington House website read: “In September 2022, Somerset County Council (SCC) took the difficult decision to activate a break clause in the lease and cease its activities at Dillington House from 30 September 2023.
“SCC has leased the 16th Century Grade 2 listed country house since September 1966 – initially for adult/community education and more recently as a venue for meetings/ conferences and various events such as weddings.”
The message also explained “staff will be supported in finding alternative employment, especially within the council where appropriate, to minimise redundancies.”
