A TREE-PLANTING ceremony in honour of Queen Elizabeth II has taken place today (Wednesday, October 11) in Ilminster.
The ceremony took place at the town’s Recreation Ground and was also attended by the Mayor of Ilminster, Cllr Leanne Taylor, the town crier, pupils from Herne View Primary School, and the Minster’s vicar.
They all gathered at the Recreation Ground at 2pm to plant the tree in memory of the Queen.
The tree was planted in an area of the Recreation Ground now known as the Queen’s Garden, as suggested by Herne Views’ pupils.
The garden also features a commemorative bench that pays tribute to Queen Elizabeth II.
Here are some photos from the event.
