A PUBLIC toilet block and other facilities at the Ilminster recreation ground have been vandalised during the Coronation weekend.
Damages included a hole in the ceiling, smashed glass, and a broken picnic bench.
A statement from Ilminster Town Council said: “The Coronation weekend has left us with a vandalised toilet block.
“There was smashed glass on the floor, toilet roll stuffed in the sink/taps of the disabled toilet, skate park signs ripped off, a seat from a picnic bench broken off and then rammed up against the water fountain leaving the water to flow freely.
“The worst of it was the hole in the ceiling and the ripped-out wiring which luckily also blew the fuse.
“Whoever did this damage was fortunate to not have been seriously injured. The electricity has been turned off until we can get an electrician to make it safe.
“The cost of repairing the damage caused by vandals comes from the town council element of your council tax.
“This has been reported to 101. If you saw or know of anything, please report it. Crime Ref: 5223107237.”
