SITTING areas around Ilminster are being given a new lease of life.
The town council has secured funds to buy new benches and refurbishment works were recently carried out by the grounds team.
The project started thanks to a number of sources, including the Market Town Initiative Group run by South Somerset District Council.
An Ilminster Town Council spokesperson said: “Over the past year, the council has secured money from a number of sources, including the Market Town Initiative Group that was run by SSDC.
“This has allowed it to purchase a number of new benches for sitting around the town and up at Herne Hill.
“We are also very fortunate to have talented staff who are working hard to renovate where possible existing benches so that they can be enjoyed for many years to come.
“The latest ones to be given a new lease of life are in the Market Square in Ilminster and have generated many very pleasing comments.”
