TWO elderly people were given oxygen treatment as firefighters tackled their blazing garage.
Fire crews from Yeovil and Martock were called to the incident in Ash yesterday (Monday, January 31) shortly before 5pm.
Initially three fire engines were sent to the scene, but on discovering the detached premises well alight, a fourth appliance was called for.
Firefighters had put the fire out by 5.40pm, after which they spent time damping down.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Progress of the incident was hampered due to partial collapse of the garage roof and live overhead power cables.
"Two elderly occupants of the affected property were given oxygen therapy due to smoke inhalation and paramedics were called.
"The garage suffered severe damage and the cause of the fire was deemed to be accidental."
