And now, organisers have presented a cheque to the cancer charity for an incredible £3,812.

The organisers of the coffee morning gave the funds to Genevieve Drinkwater, Macmillan regional fundraising manger for the South West, this week.

Julie Fowler, who initiated the event three years ago when she was Mayor of Ilminster, said: “There can be very few people whose lives have not been touched by cancer, either personally or by having a member of the family or a friend who has suffered from the disease.

"This is the third coffee morning which has been organised and a total of over £6000 has been raised, which reflects the generosity and compassion of our community.

"The funds this year will provide 122 hours of specialist nursing care and emotional support. Over the past three years, our coffee mornings have financed more than six weeks of nursing.

"I support this charity because I have had first-hand experience of the wonderful work undertaken by Macmillan nurses and the help and strength they give in one’s darkest hours.

"So it is onwards and upwards to next year! We look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday, September 24 2022 from 9.30am at The Archie Gooch Pavilion."
