PUPILS at a school in Somerset were awarded for their hard work this academic year at an awards ceremony.
Parents and students attended the awards evening at Swanmead Community School in Ilminster on Tuesday, July 20.
Out of 300 children at the school, 60 were invited along to collect awards at the end of year celebration.
During the awards, Mark Walker, headteacher, said: "Thank you students for simply being you.
"Thanks for your dedication to all you do, for your enthusiasm and your wonderful sense of fun.
"You paint the school with your smiles and laughter and as staff we’re lucky to work in a school with such people as you.
"In a year where everything we have ever known, ever enjoyed and the life we live put on hold…it takes a special place and a special community to come together to battle the elements, support each other, make the best of it and ensure that we display empathy and understanding, appreciation and respect."
The awards included class prizes, subject prizes and special awards.
