A LARGE quantity of hay has been destroyed in a barn fire this morning.
Theee fire service received a call about the incident in Batchpool Lane, Horsington, just before 5.45am.
Fire engines from Wincanton and Gillingham as well as a water carrier from Yeovil and an incident support unit from Martock, were all sent to a report of a barn on fire.
A spokesperson from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue, said: "On arrival crews confirmed this barn contained bales of hay and farm machinery and there was a fire in one corner.
"Crews extinguished the fire using two main jets and drag forks.
"There were approximately 20 bales of hay that were destroyed by fire."
The cause of the fire was believed to be accidental.
