THE entire staff and student community gathered at Perrott Hill School to celebrate a very significant birthday, for one of their longest serving members of staff - the one and only 'Mr Fixit'.

Ian White, who lives in Crewkerne and joined the school back in 1995, turned 60 this September and the whole school took part in celebrating the occasion.

Affectionately known as ‘Mr Fixit’ by all staff and students, Ian has played a significant role, underpinning all the happenings at Perrott Hill School over the last 30 years.

As deputy head Mr Silk said in his address: “It’s easy to take what Ian does for granted, as so much of it happens behind the scenes.

“But whether it’s driving the school minibus, building sets for school plays, teaching carpentry to the pupils, or generally fixing things across the entire site, he’s played a key part in many areas of school life.”

The children presented Ian with home-made cards, and a special jug they had designed and created in their pottery classes before singing a rousing rendition of ‘Happy Birthday.’
