TWO Crewkerne residents have been named the town’s newest Honoured Citizens and another has received the Mayor’s Commendation Award.
Catherine Bacon and Roy Scrivens are Crewkerne’s newest Honoured Citizens and were recognised by the town council for their work for the community.
John Davies received the Mayor’s Commendation Awards.
A spokesperson for Crewkerne Town Council said: “Congratulations to our two newest Honoured Citizens, Catherine Bacon and Roy Scrivens. And to John Davies for receiving the Mayor’s Commendation Award.
“Catherine is being honoured for all her hard work for the community with Crewkerne in Bloom.
“Over the years she has also been involved with The Inner Wheel Club, and managed the Local Information Office for several years.
“Roy is a regular volunteer at the Crewkerne Local Information Office. He also sits on the board of Trustees at The Henhayes Centre, as well as volunteering there once a week as part of their Memory Group.
“Each Christmas he gives hours of his time to become the most wonderful Father Christmas.
Both are worthy recipients of the award – congratulations Catherine and Roy.
“The Mayor’s Commendation Award went to John Davies – congratulations John.
“John has worked hard to restore and maintain the Severalls Memorial Garden and organised a petition to have the garden returned to Crewkerne.
“All very worthy winners and Crewkerne is lucky to have them in our community.”
