POLICE are warning motorists of delays as an abnormal load travels through Somerset this morning (Saturday, February 5).
Officers are helping to escort a specialist earch mover, weighing about 148 tonnes and measuring around 30 metres long and 4.6 metres wide.
The vehicle left Crewkerne around 9am this morning.
The planned route is from Cathole Bridge Road in Crewkerne, onto the A30 at Yeovil and then via the A3088, A3030 and A358 and onto the M5.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "Officers will be closing roads along the way to facilitate this journey and expect it to cause some delays to traffic as the load will be travelling at a low speed.
"We're encouraging motorists to avoid these routes and consider alternatives to avoid any delays."
